because I cannot get shed Guinea pig hairs off the fleece! Poppy is white, so the hairs really stand out.

And the girls adore hay cookies. They carry them around the cage to munch them in other parts of the cage, and there are always bits stuck to the fleece. A lot of the stuff stuck to the fleece. Even after a good shake outside.

A curry comb is great for getting mist of the crud from the fleece, but not the hairs. They are too fine. Gloves only do so much. Sellotape would take hours...

Any ideas?

I have a similar problem - Willow's quite light-haired and sheds a lot. So I'll be following with interest!

wet the curry comb and move it in a circular motion? That's all I can think of.

Our fleeces are never perfectly hair free - I just accept it and try not to stress.
I shake and give a quick curry comb before washing.
I re-shake and curry comb after washing.
I live with whatever is left.

Swissgreys I like this, but the hay cookies...OMG the hay cookies make a mess! Not even the curry comb can clean it...but I will try again with a wet comb. But the girlies just LOVE the hay cookies...

Sigh.

I have this same issue with piggy fur getting stuck to the fleece. I have a piggy thats mostly black and another that has alot of white so i cant win with whatever colour fleece i choose. I even tried the lint roller yesterday but hardly picked up anything but the fleece was still wet so I might try again when its dry. Fingers crossed.

My fleeces slowly become a fleece made of hair over the years so I bin them and replace. After having pigs for years and finding hay in every square inch of the house I've given up the quest for tidyness.

Would something like a lint roller work? The sticky roller thing. They're like a big bit of sellotape. We used to use them when I lived with my parents and the dog covered our school uniforms in hair.

I hang mine over a railing in the garden and give them a good brush and bash with a very stiff brush. As I get older my eye sight is deteriorating rapidly so now I avoid wearing glasses around fleeces, once washed it's clean hair anyway. :))

These work really well.. http://www.lakeland.co.uk/23367/20-...mitts&ef_id=UsQLswAAAIkFjlxc:20161211174650:s

i have no idea what you call them, but go to a horse shop and ask for a blanket brush. It takes some work but normally you can remove all hair from your fleece :)

I've tried the lint roller with the sticky lint paper with not much success.

I just bash mine and sweep them off with the dustpan for fur. I'm only just beginning to experience hay cookie type mess. (Think crushed up bits of Weetbix if you have those) I have a little hand held vacuum that is for exclusive piggy use and it works quite well. Won't pick up bigger bits of hay, but poop and crumbs are no match!

I bought a hand held vacuum for doing the cage out when I spot clean but I'm afraid to use it in the cage because I know the piggies will stress out. They dont do floor time yet because I havnt been able to find anything suitable otherwise I could spot clean then. So it's cat poo scoop (I find it easier than the brush)
and dust pan for spot cleaning here.

I swizzle them round like a Morris dancer every two days in the back garden, also give them a bop against a wall too. It works for me and keeps me fit :))

Yeah it's a two person job here. Piggies go into snuggle sacks and have cuddle time with daddy while I vacuum them out. Not fair that I get all the poop and he gets the cuddles!

I have the same problem, Maple has some white hairs and they get everywhere, especially on me. Not that I mind though I love her! But I was going to try the lint roller as well. No luck huh? Eh, I guess just leave it, not much else you can do.
Vacuuming could work too though...hmm! I have a dustpan but I could use my handheld.

I use a rubber brush intended for horses, that seems to work pretty well for hay cookie mess and hair (giving it good shake and some karate moves) but it doesn't get 100% of the hair off. My piggies vary in colour so it's like a hairy rainbow! Lint rollers are good on clothes and stuff but if I used it on all the fleece I'd probably be there til the next cage clean XD

I use a rubber brush while they are in the hutches to get the hay, poo and hair off the fleece. On clean out day I shale them outside and then use a stiff bristle brush to give the fleece a good brush while it is hanging over the fence. This seems to work for me.

My little hand held Dyson ( it's 8 or 9 years old now) is great for getting hay cookie mess from the fleece! Yes the piggies are not impressed with the noise but if they didn't make hay cookie trails around the cage I wouldn't need to use it as long as I do. Not that it's on for hours, more like 30-45 seconds, but to piggies that's ages...I hold down the fleece just to be certain it doesn't move.

Hair ! It's the bane of my life....... I also bash my fleece outside on a wall..... can't stand hair on me... good job I love the piggies .... never get it all off.... I just try and ignore it :whistle:

I have resorted to having specific clothes that I wear to clean and feed the guinea pigs, So much hair and hay everywhere I gave up trying to get it off all my nice clothes!

I have been in public with hairy clothes...yes, someone noticed, no, I'm not embarrassed! Duncan's white hairs showed up beautifully all over my dark fleece jacket, my brother's black jeans, the dark purple fleece...It seems to come off in the wash.

I put the fleece on a low heat in the tumble dryer gets them out, then u just wipe the filter clean each time. Some of my fleeces even have the waterproof liners on them and they r fine on a low heat too. Works for me anyway...

I have specific clothes I wear for lap time and cage cleaning. Usually something old that I dont care if they get fur all over (or pee lol).

I wouldn't be embarrassed either. Half the people you see on the street probably have fur all over their clothes from various animals. I still have cat fur over all mine and I dont have a cat anymore.
