Dragging bum

I have noticed that my tango is dragging her bum sometimes . Is this normal behaviour for sows .

Yes, this is scent marking. Sows do also scent mark.

I think this is maybe what she was doing when I thought her back leg was giving way

Yes! My sow has done this before it is just scent marking!

It isn't a warning as such - more like just letting everyone know they were there, and leaving their own unique scent behind to make it clear.

When pigs scent mark they're basically leaving some information about them like age, health, how close to season ect. All pigs do it. You may notice her doing it more after a cage clean. Mine do.

Guinea pig females sort of "claim their property" by scent marking. However, mom guinea pigs might be able to emit a type of pheromone that will calm down a nervous GP baby and help them sleep. A bonded guinea pig can also do this to help its partner relax.
