Hey everyone!
I've had a serious think about my piggles today and i'm really concerned that my single female, Fudge, is getting a lot more attention and time spent with her than my little LoveLots, Truffle and Honey. I know this comes down to their location and it's a problem that's been waiting to crop up for a while.
Fudge lives on a big table in the conservatory and so she sees us all the time. We usually eat dinner in the room that joins and always watch television afterwards in the conservatory. This means that little Fudge always gets picked up, fussed over and smooched xoxo
(As i'm typing this my Mum has served up tea for my Dad who's carrying little Fudge, 'Bug' as he calls her, around the room like a baby rolleyes)

The LoveLots are upstairs in our spare bedroom. Their cage is on the floor so that makes it harder to get to them generally and although it means they can hop out the bed for a good run round the room, it also means cleaning them out requires a lot of stretching and leaning in! mallethead.
The pair of them tend to make lots more mess than Fudge and I know that's due to them being a pair but i think she's not as bored, so tends to sleep when we're not around and fuss us when we are.

I'm just worried we're not spending enough quality time with them. We always give them an hour each of an evening for cuddles and play but i worry it's not interesting enough.

My main query is that I was thinking of getting a double indoor cage for the conservatory. I'd remove the steps so the girls can't get to each other (As Fudge is such a stroppy mare) but then they'd all be together, in the main 'guinea' room!

I don't want anything crazily expensive but if something is perfect and a little bit £££ I don't mind at all :)
any ideas where I could look? or what is best to search for on ebay?
or does this housing set up sound like a nightmare?

(Just a note - if anyone says to try them all together in one larger cage, this would be perfect and my ideal scenario but Fudge just won't tolerate the girls in her home)

You could build them c&c cages. I've got loads built to fit odd spaces in my house, so you could build one level for the pair to live in. & build another level above for fudge :))

Are they expensive to build? I'm worried that i'll make a right mess of it too! What goes on the base? such a novice :(

they really are a piece of cake to make. My 9 year old son built mine. You usually use correx (corrugated plastic) on the base. There are lots of great examples in the housing section of this forum and you tube. Lists of suppliers there too

Have you try introduce all of them in a neutral area, where none of the pigs have been to? No pigs will tolerate putting a new pig into their home.

Yes. Repeatedly.
We used our living room with veggies in the middle and blocked off any places they could run off and hide in case of any spats. Honey and Truffle are very friendly and laid back, whereas Fudge is dominant and more grumpy. The two girls run up to Fudge and cuddle up with her, which she loves for a short time (about 3-5 minutes) then she attacks them. She's drawn blood from Honey, not much but enough for me to not to push it further and I won't let it get that far with Truffle, especially as she's only 10 weeks old and she's Honeys partner. I wouldn't want to ruin their balance.

A close friend of mine has two single neutered boars and she was rehoming them due to an allergy, I have tried both of them with Fudge (a week or so apart) and she detests them too. So she's been trialed with two males and three females now and still no perfect match. Eventually she'll find her forever partner (she lost her husboar and sister within 6 wks of each other back in June/July '12) but i've decided to give her a break from introductions for a while, I don't want to stress her further.:)

cheapest place I found the grids from was amazon, around £25 for 20 grids. And the cheapest correx was from teacratepackaging.co.uk
They are so easy to build, & they really are great, once you have one you'll never go back to a normal cage :))

I'm so sorry for your losses. She must have missed them so much.

God, she really is a fussy one! :))

May be something like this for a two tier:

Obviously, you could only house a pair per a level. You also may need to do something about the ladder hole? I'll keep searching for you. :) xx

You already have 2 cages, right? Why not stack them on top of each other? Then you won't have to buy a new cage.

If they can't stack, you could put one on a table and the other one under the table.

^ that.

Also, the Midwest Guinea Habitats are good and they connect. You can either have them openly connect or hace them connect with the doors shut :) i love ours.
