Will post curly brown baby after a bum bath.

Just brought these two home. I was told they were female. I checked when I got them that they were female by pressing on their belly. Both have the *Y*.

White seemed to have a lot of staining...given she pooped non stop while I washed her bottom and she peed on me. LOL.

However I started noting something sticking out and thought it might be a penis that I missed. Hence the second guessing.

As I rinsed her it came out more. It seemed rather rough/hard and suddenly there was a 3 inch long white...something that fell out of her private area. It washed down the drain before I could grab it.

So now I'm freaking out that it is either male and jizzed everywhere, or worse that it definitely is a she and she was with a male.

I'm hoping good grooming cleans up the fur as it still looks pretty stained. She (I hope she) is still wet in the pic.

Hi!

This is very much a girl with a nice angular knob and the fleshy seal inside the slit just peeking our and not a round penis button and a very distinctive straight slit set below it.
Have a look at our comparison pictures and where to look for the more gender distinctive parts (those, too, with reference pictures): Illustrated Sexing Guide

Here are tips on what to do with long-haired piggies. I keep the hairs around the genitalia and legs preferably short as they are prone for picking up all the much and mat very quickly.

Thanks for reconfirming. I've poured over the articles even though I'm pretty confident with sexing. But none of my girls ever had a hard white...blech come out of their vaginas before. So I freaked.

Which leads to my second fear. Last time I rescued a pup I was on pregnancy watch because she was with 10 males. I was assured this one was not with boys...so what WAS that? It seemed way to big to be a mere mucus plug.

Also...black baby pics just to reconfirm.

Also, yeah I kept my last peruvian trimmed around her bum so she wouldn't get matted.

I'm waiting for a warmer day. They are still rather smelly, but it's too cold for a full bath today. I normally don't bathe them, but my pigs never smell.

Both are definitely females! I'm not sure what the white thing could be, as I've never had it with either of my two girls, but, some future advice I could offer would be to see where the piggies are being kept, whether in a shelter, petstore, etc. You'd be able to check and see the sex of other cagemates, which could help confirm pregnancy or not, as well as watching the others for possible signs of illness.

Yeah, I usually do insist. Five nights in a row of 12 hour night shifts with all day fighting every day in the apartment upstairs...made for a very tired lady who just wanted her piggies and bed.

It won't be the first pregnancy watch I've done (rescue housed with multiple males), but pregnancy freaks me out none the less.

I'm sure, I was super nervous getting my girls this time around, checked all three of the girls' cagemates to make sure there would be no issues! Hopefully you caught up on sleep!

I'm laying on the sofa watching the first two get to know each other. I got the first one a month ago, the second a week ago so we are doing introductions as I settle for a nap.

New pups just came home today as an impulse buy lol. I couldn't resist their fluff.

I've seen bladder stones passed as sows were peeing but nothing ever that length - and there was always blood passed and pained squeaking - so as your girl seems cheerful it doesn't sound like that.
I've seen posts on here about how 'boar glue' (semen) sets like cement but the posts have always been about the best way to cut it off the fur of other boars! It did make me wonder what happens when it goes where nature meant it to go... so, erm, good luck with that pregnancy watch?

Update

Two days later both went limp. So we ended up at the ER vet on new years eve. They admitted to not having experience with things coming out of a vagina, but they were both pretty dehydrated. We were given a dewormer just I case, critical care and sub Q fluids. I had to work the next two nights and I saw they were drinking so I didnt stress about the sub Q fluids. Today they are back to not eating hay and I've been fighting with Kára (curly hair) to get critical care in her. However she was a champ about her fluids. Yelped a little with the needle and jumped, but when I went back the second time she just chattered at me. I think I only lost half a mL. Kára is up 40 g. So in spite of not seeing her eat, she must be eating something. That works out to 20 g a day since the vet.

Off to see how Eir handles sub Q. She guzzle critical care like theres no tomorrow. So I'm not as worried about her.

Kára pics for attention.

Oh my gosh these girls are putting you through the mill. It's strange that they both went limp but great that you managed to find a vet at that time!
The two events might not be related so I guess you are still in the dark but hopefully the ladies are improving with your devoted caring. They are beautiful x

Eir's update...she is a bit more squirmy. After jabbing her twice I backed off and didnt give the final 1 mL of fluid. Her white hair is stained from the little drop of blood after removing the needle.

She is up 10 g from the vet.

She also loves critical care. I believe I got 18 mL in her.

Neither girl moves when I reach into the enclosure which still concerns me. I'm used to cavies running away. I've only had one that didnt, but she would come to you and raise her paws to he picked up. So this not moving at all is concerning.

Both girls still smell horribly. I am anxious to give them a full bath but it's still so cold. I'm going to wait until closer to introductions just to wash away anything that may cause disease to the herd. Hopefully that will cut the smell. I don't tend to bathe then but they smell horrifically.

Still have no idea what came out of her vagina. If its worms, well she is being treated now.

I've no experience with worms in piggies (just in cats, kids, etc!) but from your original post where you described the 'thing' as rather rough/hard it doesn't sound like any worm I've seen - they've all been kind of squirmy?
A bad smell is not a good sign... I've heard sperm rods can smell (again, no personal experience) but I would also be worried about infection. Can you tell which end the smell is coming from? I mean mouth end or rear end? I'm going to tag @Wiebke again and @Siikibam about this because the girls are poorly and the thread title isn't related to that so this later post might not have been picked up. I'm not so great at this forum stuff! Hand in there @Sgboyd and girls x

Yes it's urine smell. It is coming from their fur. I gave them a bum bath that first day but I'm not going to wash them again until time for introductions. I will probably shampoo them then.

Are they maybe sitting in their own urine? What are they bedded on?

They came like that. My older girls do not smell. I have them on the same bedding as them. Paper bedding with hay to forage through.

I don't know what the previous owner had them on. They smelled when I brought them home. It's just too cold to really give them a good wash yet. I will scrub them well right before introductions and turn the heat up for that day so they keep warm. I don't want to over do it though and dry out their skin, so I will wait. I've had them a week tomorrow.

I'm just a bit concerned about infection because of the smell. When my short-haired girl(s) had a UTI she dripped urine all the time and her rear was obviously wet but even then she didn't smell of wee. I've recently got my first long-haired pig and the first thing I did was to trim around the back because she was trailing wee everywhere! The trim sorted it - she's not wet anymore.

I've asked the moderators to have a look at this thread and potentially move it to the Health and Illness section because of the emergency vet visit... I mean, it might all work out but I think that H&I might be more closely monitored by people who have experience of things. I'm not very internet-savvy so I hope I'm doing the right thing for you.

Thanks Free Ranger. They have a repeat vet appt on the 19th so I will definitely follow up on the smell.
