As you might know my guinea pigs and I are staying with my parents for a few weeks and furby has decided that lying against the door of the hutch is the best place to sleep which means as you open the door she nearly falls out mallethead and i feel so mean making her move any idea how i can encourage her to pick a new place to lie down sleep and relax? just 4 inches to the right would be fine or the back wall

any ideas?/?/

Have you got a soft rag or old tea towel or something she might like to cuddle up with? Rub it in a bit of veg or fruit to attract her and put it where you want her to sleep. (She just might like to drag to where she wants it, but it worth a try!)

will steal an old towel off mum and when i clean them out tomorrow i may have a change about in what i put in the middle of the hutch maybe not put so much hay by the door, but so brave just sleeping out in the open!

Many piggies just LOVE to sleep on top or snuggled into hay - you need to just move your hay from the door and make a "hay bed" somewhere else!

Both of my girls do this but they snuggle in the hay and lay up against the door of their sleeping area. They have nearly fallen out a dozen times and I have so far been unsuccessful in moving them somewhere else x

ok if it was the door in the sleeping area that would be fine, but this is the door with just the mesh so you can see in in the middle of the hutch, but every little thing i need to go in for i have to disturb her putting bowls in and out etc etc they have houses and tunnels but she just ignores them, she never sleeps out in the open in her c&c cage at home!

Persistent little b*ggers they are, aren't they?

Perhaps if you made a little mound of hay somewhere else? Or you try and block the mesh with a hut or other obstruction until she has found another favourite place!

Some piggies just like sleeping out in the open. My first one preferred the TOP of her hut for bedding down!
