Hi everyone, new piggy mum here

Ive had my boys a week now, two vets visits already unfortunately, the first of which established they are younget than the seller said and they are probably only 4-5 weeks old.

They are apparently brothers, the larger boy fudge is showing his dominance which i have read is normal, but i just wonder how much is too.much?

Obviously being at home all the time at the moment i see the alot of the day, id say fudge shows his dominance by mounting probably 2 or 3 times a day probably for about a minute or 2 intermittently while hes having a good run around and a bit of a popcorn. Rolo doesnt usually react at all( i wonder if this is because hes not very well?)

Just wondering when i should be concerned about his dominance or any other advice welcomed

Thank you!

Hi! I got my four girls in march and we’ve had such a change in dominance since then. Is the other one physically going for the other piggies? Any biting? A niggle is ok and I believe mounting is ok too. But any severe fighting or blood drawn would need sorting out! Xx

Sounds normal. As long as one piggy is squeaking in submission and letting himself be humped then it should hopefully be okay. Be aware that when settling in their new home, the dominance display can continue for up to two weeks after they’ve moved in. He’s just letting the other know he’s boss.

They’ll soon enter their teenage months and you are likely to see a lot of humping, mounting and chasing, squeaking and possibly teeth chattering during this period, especially when there are hormone surges. have a read of the threads linked below. There you’ll find what is and isn’t acceptable.

Hi

That is very mild on the normal scale of establishing a group in any new territory. Just make sure that you have everything in two and any huts always with two exits. More tips for how to work around boar specific issues in this guide here:

Thanks everyone, now to get them feeling better 🤞🏻

Please keep in mind that you are now dealing with teenagers for the next 10 months. It is really worth reading the green guide links!
