I've had my 2 piggies for almost a year and there has never been any issues between them until recently. I've always assumed Fizgig was the dominant one because he was always more confident but Jinx was always the one who rumble strutted. He never did more than rumble strut until recently though. He's now trying the hump Fizgig like crazy. All Fizgig does is buck him off and run away and squeak a lot. Could it be that Jinx had always been the dominant one and I just never realized it or could Jinx be trying to take over? I'm worried Fizgig will brutally attack Jinx if it's the latter. Fiz has always had a more grumpy attitude. I'm just worried i'm going to come home from work one day and one of them will be dead :(

Mounting is pretty normal dominance behaviour. mature boys can still have the occasional hormonal spurt, so hopefully, this will be over soon. Have you got a soft toy to draw of some of the excess humping?

If not, it often helps to separate adult, well bonded boars for a night in order to cool down tempers. If you wish, you can give them a bath before reintroducing in neutral territory (like a bathroom floot or a bath tub with a towel). Clean the cage/hutch thoroughly to remove the stink of excess testosterone. Usually adult boars go back together without major problems.

Here are some informative links that may help you:

PS: the dominant boar is not necessarily the most confident around humans.
