Hi. So it's been pretty warm today (22-23 C) and most of my guinea pigs' run is in the shade but today one of them was selecting to be in the small circle of direct sunlight and lying down in this patch on her side with her leg out which, when I've looked, seems to be a classic overheating position. So she deliberately chose to lie in the one patch of sunlight! She is fine but it did worry me. Do they not have any common sense to go to the shade?!

Your piggy was probably just enjoying the sunshine. I keep my house at 72 to 73 F (I think that is the same as 22-23 C) and my piggies do just fine.

Hi!

Some piggies like it hot! They will move into the shade as soon as they are starting to overheat if they are healthy.
Important is that they can move out of the sun whenever they wish to.

My Teddy was another sun worshipper...

My Bill would spend all his times outside choosing to be in the sun while Ted would be found laid out in a shaded corner in hot weather. As long as they have that choice then it’s fine
