I'm wondering if anyone has ever come accross this before?

My friend has a very elderly dog whose teeth are falling out, her breath stinks vile! She has hardly any teeth but seems to be coping okay with her food, they are making it soft for her. Has anyone come across this sort of thing before?

:tickedoff: There's no particular reason for this being there but it makes me laugh everytime i see it and i've been dying to use it!

My Grandad had a retired greyhound that only had 1 front tooth and although he looked a bit strange he was fine. He obviously couldn't eat doggy treats etc that were hard but he was fine with his dog food, or things that my Grandad softened for him :)

My Lhasa Elmer had no teeth as a baby, i got him at 7wks & they didn't start growing til he was past 12wks. No idea why he was the only pup (out of 6) who had no teeth but it didn't stop him eating, i just softened his biscuits with water.

He now has a full set of choppers ;)

My Dad's Suzie has only 8 teeth but she is a Rescue and her previous owners did not care for her teeth and they rotted out. We make sure we care for her remaining teeth though.

i know a few people with dogs that have no teeth and it doesn't stop them eating much they even enjoy sucking on pigs ears etc ;D obviously not when they are still attached to the pigs ;D

if the dogs teeth and breath are as bad as they sound then a dental at the vets would be a good idea ;)

Totally agree. If the teeth are falling out and the breath smells, this dog is very likely in a lot of pain. Imagine having toothache & no-one doing anything about it? :'( I really really hope your friend has consulted a vet.
