Dogs & Guinea Pigs

Can your dog get to the cage? Make sure there's places for him to hide. If your cage is on the ground think about moving it up onto a tablet or getting a stand to the dog can't see into the cage.

Guinea pigs are prey animals and if a dog is touching them never mind trying to "flip them over", they can literally have a heart attack and die with the stress. Please do not, under any circumstances allow your dog near your guinea pig when he is out of his cage! He is too interested in the pig and this could have fatal consequences.

To be safe, keep the guinea pigs cage above the dogs level and dont allow him near him.

I mean when I hold him my dog keeps trying to flip him over

Make sure that your dogs not in the same room as your guinea pig, like Adelle said, they are prey animals and it can cause them quiet alot of stress and unnecessary fear. So in future just put the dog in another room while you hold your guinea pig, that way your pig won't get stressed and your dog won't be agitated to get to the pig :)

Oh and yeah, like I said before make sure the dog can't look into the cage as that can cause stress too :)

It's definitely concerning that the dog is trying to flip the piggy, it would be like a bear mauling a human. Terrifying and dangerous. As everyone else has said, it really is best to keep the dog well away from the poor piggy. Of course he will be frightened and might have a heart attack, but also the dog might decide to eat him. Which would be awful.
