Hi, we are meant to give our BB 0.4ml dog metacam but we have just ran out, we have a bottled ordered but it’s not meant to get here until next week. We do have cat metacam though, as prescribed for our cat. What would the 0.4ml dog metacam be in the cat metacam? Ive never used it for a guinea pig before! I could probably sit and work it out myself, but I would be scared of getting it wrong. Thanks in advance :)

Hi

You need to triple the dosage for cat metacam and give 1.2 ml instead.

Each millilitre in cat metacam contains 0.5mg of meloxicam whereas each ml in dog metacam contains 1.5 mg of the active ingredient when you look at the labels. If in any doubt, always call your out of hours clinic (for those in the UK).
