Hi everyone! Thinking about rescuing a dog in the near future. At the moment my two piggies are in a C&C but it doesn't have a roof. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice about creating a dog-proof C+C? Or if anyone has dogs and guinea pigs they could maybe tell me how they make it work? Thanks!

Raising the cage off the floor would be good (I'm assuming here that it's on the floor) I have cats and a dog and having the cage off the floor is a big help. My pigs are also upstairs in their own room and the dog isn't allowed in there.

I have a dog and Piggies. I have my c&c on a "folding craft table". My dog is scared of the Guinea pigs. He doesn't like it when they rumblestrut.

You can create a roof for your cage from grids. I've seen people using roof bars to support the roof.

Yep, it's on the floor at the moment. Does it really make a big difference lifting it off the floor and if so, how? Especially as we are likely to get a medium-large sized dog. What kind of dogs do you guys have?

We are planning to secure the cage, and we are planning that when neither me or my partner are at home that we will keep the pigs and dog separate from one another, but I'm not sure if that's going to be possible or not because we only have a 1-bed flat. It might be possible to have them a big c+c cage in the living room as planned, and have some smaller kind of cage (obviously within reason!) in the kitchen to pop them in when we are both out to separate the dog and pigs.

I have a Labrador. I wouldn't ever be able to leave her in the same room as my piggies. She gets really interested in them, crying and whining to get at them. But having the cage raised means I know she can't get to them ( plus mine are in their own room with a baby gate to the room too, obviously this isn't an option for you. ) Hope this is helpful :-)

Mine have their own room which the dogs have no access to.My lab is too interested and would frighten them even if she didn't hurt them. They started off in my living room in store bought cages but she wouldn't leave them alone.Hope this helps

I have a Jack Russell terrier. He's actually frightened of the piggies. Lol.
However the Guinea pigs live in one of our spare rooms. And if we are out the dog is in living room with a dog gate closed.
