Since we had to split out two boys up, Sid doesn't seem happy at all when outside.
He talks, popcorns, zooms, eat and drinks indoors but put him on the grass in his run and he heads straight for his house or tube and stays there.
He sometimes comes out when we sit in run with him but really doesn't seem to like it at all.
Is this just something he will learn to enjoy or will it not happen till he gets a mate?

He is obviously feeling rather frightened on his own. You can help him by covering either the whole or at least part of his run with fleece or towels; that will make him feel less exposed. How much you can lure him out eventually, is a bit of a toss up, but I think that you will see a completely different piggy as soon as he has a character compatible friend.

I can warmly recommend North East Guinea Pig Rescue: http://www.northeastguineapigrescue.co.uk/
It is the best rescue in your wider area.

thanks

i think the sooner we get him neutered and find him a girlie the better
in the meantime i will try covering part of the run with fleece x

ha! his run is already half covered on top but not on sides at all
i've just gone and popped a fleece over some more of top and a good part of side
Sid flew out his house, did a hop and a skip and is now merrily eating some grass!
can't believe i didn't think to do it!

Have you tried putting them both together in the run when you can supervise them. It's quite possible they may be OK with each other for shorter periods, maybe 30 to 60 minutes. I did this with my girls & neutered boy & they were generally OK. They did a little teeth grinding once the feeding frenzy on fresh grass died off but mostly OK. They wouldn't bond as a group before but now I've taken the divider out of their indoor run & they've been living together in almost harmony for 11 days now.

My two dont like it outdoors either so I just give them floor time instead.

If you look at it from a guineas point of view all the bird noises, and outside noises can be quite frightening especially if they are kept outside.

Mine are happy with a bowl of grass and floor time inside.

My piggy lost his mate a few months back. And he also has no interest in being outside on his own now. He just sits there and wont attempt to have a run.. I think he may b scared out there on his own. As he is a indoor piggy and not used to the outdoor sounds of cars birds etc. I have got him a indoor enclosure which he can run around in indoors and he is happy in there.
He hates bein outsde but I carry him and have a walk out there wen its nice so he can get some fresh air.
