Hello!

Okay so my gorgeous boys pumpkin and teddy have a brand new cage but it did not come with a lid or a top cover ( whatever you want to call it). Now the sides are very high on the cage but when they are out in their pen having floor time teddy manages to escape - all be it he is not climbing over it but I was just wondering if you think they will be okay in their cage with no lid as they are on a table and if they managed to climb it they would fall and well I can't imagine they would survive that! So do you guys have any experiences of piggies climbing out their cages or pens ?

Also I have attached a pic of their new crib which they love! You can see pumpkin having a wee munch!

It's quite hard to tell and it really depends on the guinea pigs personality but mine don't try to climb out and I have no lid on my cage. It looks roughly the same height as yours too.

Mine is

Width : 120cm
Depth : 60cm
Height : 35cm

:)

Thanks - yeah they have not tried to climb out of it in the past couple of weeks I just thought I would ask you guys and see what all your thoughts and opinions were :) x

That looks high enough to me, I'd be very surprised if one managed to climb up the side of that.
I do have some escape artists for guinea pigs. When we took the lid off to get the pigs out before their cage was cleaned, Mouse, when she was little and very adventurous, climbed up and leapt over the side! She was perfectly fine though and didnt seem fazed at all even though it was quite a drop for a pig. We keep a watchful eye on them now!

That is the same height as my cage. Mine does not have a lid and nobody has tried to climb out. I have heard of some adventurous piggies escaping though!

Aw thank you so much everyone for your speedy replies! Much appreciated

Mine don't have a lid but are on the floor.I did find one from the group of six in with the group of four.Just be careful about putting stuff at the side that the can climb on and jump. You could peg a fleece over if you are worried

Mine is a bit lower and doesn't have a cover, mine have so far not climbed out. even though scamp is pretty good at climbing onto boxes, pigloos etc he hasn't climbed out of the run
