Just bought some Vetbed for putting in my boys' carriers. I'm wondering if it'll have it's wicking properties straight away or if it needs washed and dried 3 - 5 times before use like fleece does?

What do you mean by wicking? I see that term used on here alot and i still dont have a clue haha.

I use vetbed, i cut it to size (larger than measured to make way for skrinking over time) then wash it to clear away fraying cut edges. I then use it after that.. The green backing on the vet bed is pretty tough and needs a few washes to soften and become more malleable. The upper fluffy layer of the vet bed will become more "knitted" and less fluffy over time but its upper layer remains dry through use x

By wicking I mean drawing the moisture through to the layer underneath. Super-obvious on fleece because the pee beads and sits on top for 1-60 seconds, then goes "slurp" through to the underlayer and you can't feel any wetness on top of the fleece. Important so piggies aren't swimming in their own urine... I've made this mistake more than once with my fleece, which doesn't start wicking until you've washed it quite a bit :tu:.

Check out this video if my explanation is a bit rubbish.

i use it straight from new,put puppy pads underneath.i wash it at 60 degrees, brush it while its still damp, plie comes up plush.i wash it every three days..

I tried fleece but preffered vet bed as they are designed to hold the urine under the green backing and not let it back up... Its always dry on top. Good to know though!
