Before you read this, i'd like to tell you that i am not racist, and am completely against judging people on the colour of there skin.

Science (it seems to be my problems lesson lol!  :D ) i side oppisite a coloured lad (not pointing out his skin, but if you read on it will make sense why i tell you this.), we argue all the time, cause he nicks my stuff and calls me names for no reason. After a session of name calling to each other, he throws a sheet of paper at me, so i call him an idiot, he tells me I'm racist and I'm only saying this because of his skin. he jokes around, but if the teacher heard i could of been suspended as they dont take racism lightley.
So we  ignore each other and he starts calling me a white midget repeatedly. i call him racist, saying hes judging me by my skin, and his friend comes up saying I'm racist for only seeing the colour of my skin. and he cant be racist. eventually the teacher came over to split up the row (which is hard to hear as the class is noisy) and i told her what he called me. She ignores it, likes its nothing. but i think its a form of being racist! what do you think?

i didnt mean it racist, but he was pointing out different skin colours. if you get what i mean? its really hard to explain without actually being racist.

Racism is if someone percieves it as such. So, as you have said you believe it is racist, it is..
But yes, half cast can be deemed as racist too. Best to put his race next time. :)

Hes english, though. i shall edit my post, i did not want 2 put his name because i dont think it is right to post his details on the net and life.

edited my post, hope it sounds better now!

From what I've read as only the edit - you're not being racist by explaining that he is not "white" in order to explain the story. C:

But yes, he is displaying racism. The fact that you stood up for yourself when he was being silly does not make you racist, it makes him even more silly for thinking that you only did it because of the colour of his skin.

His calling you a "white midget" is racist.

If you call him, say, a "black midget" - people wold say that's racist, right? Because you're pointing out his skin colour for a judgement.

So yes, he is being racist.

I really hate when people think that only white people can be racist, and that it's perfectly fine for a person of another skin to be racist towards a white person.

Teachers and even police and the like will often choose to ignore it, because they know that it's a losing battle.

this is exactly how i feel Darky.
I cant even talk about it properly to the school or anyone else without either looking racist or looking silly for saying it is racist. i dont see people for the colour of their skin, its like judging people for the colour their hair or height or weight. But, its not fair if i can be judged on by someone because of my skin colour and nothing happens, yet if i judge someone on their skin colour i get kicked out of school!

Unfortunately that's just how our society is right now. We're so scared of making non-white people feel safe that racism towards white people has become acceptable.

All I can really recommend is that:

1 - Try to keep your cool around him. Sometimes it's easy to get angry and say silly things we don't mean, so avoid saying anything that could be interpretted as racist towards/around him.

2 - Ask him to leave you alone if he harasses you too much, and calmly explain each time he says something based on your race that it is racist and you don't appreciate it, he is pre-judging you.

3 - See if you can possibly find a teacher who is willing to understand your position in the matter so that they can have a word with him.
