I'm playing around with loads of C&C cages ideas for my guinea pig so you may see some questions about it on here ;P

If I make a C&C cage 2X4 and have storage on the bottom that is one tile high and then a 2X4 area and a ramp to another 2X4 area and then another 2X4 area would that be big enough? Should I forget about the storage and use somewhere esle as storage and then give them 4 storys high?

Also how much guinea pigs could I fit in that? I jsut have one now but planning on more. The one I have now is male.

Is the male you have neutered or are you planning to have him neutered? You can mix a neutered male with as many females as you have room for but otherwise you can usualy only get away with 2 males in one area because of dominance issues. :)

Male is not neutered. He is just 12ish weeks now. I only have him for 2 weeks. I am planing on getting another pig and also neutering is something I am planning to do.

So if you're planning on getting your male guinea pig neutered I assume you will then want to house him with sows. I think your pig is a bit young to be neutered at the moment and would need to wait 6 weeks after the op to be introduced to females (to make sure all sperm have dried up). If you want to get a female before then you will need to make separate living arrangements for them.
3 or 4 storeys of c & c is quite ambitious to start with. They are great cages but there is quite a lot of effort involved in building them so you want to be sure you want something that big before you embark on it. I would be tempted to start off with no more than 2 storeys which would be plenty of room for 2-3 pigs. You can then try it out for a while and get used to the routine you'll need for cleaning out, etc. I have a 4 x 3 with a 1 x 3 hayloft and started with 2 pigs- having recently got a 3rd it has suprised me how much more time is needed for maintenance (so much poop!) even though it is easy to clean out as I can get right in it.
If it all works out you can add more storeys at a later date- that's one of the great things about c & c.

:)

Have you looked at this site?

I have just had one of my guinea pigs neutered (we discovered his friend was actually a girl) and the vet said he had to weigh half a kilo (500 grams) to be big enough to get neutered. He was only just heavy enough at 510g at four months old. He has to wait until six weeks after his 'little op' to move back in with his mate. This means that your boar will have to wait some time before he can live with with a sow.

Welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy your little piggy.

You could make two storeys and then keep the boy on one storey and a girl or two on the other storey, until the boy is neutered. Then you could let them be together, after the six weeks.

I would go for two storeys because I think it'd be almost as good to them as three. Because if there are three they might not use them all.

And I think that'd be a good size for three guinea pigs. :)
