My Felix is fighting again with his cage mate. Nothing serious, but it is out of character. I remember the same thing happening about this time last year though. I am thinking maybe it is the coming of spring.. natural feeling to start mating and displaying dominance.

Does anyone else notice more fiesty behaviour as the days get longer and brighter?

It happens mostly in the moring as the sun rises too.

I'm interested to hear people's thoughts on this.

I have pigs and rabbits. My rabbits are crazy at the moment, chewing EVERYTHING and just being really naughty.

I can't say I've noticed any difference with my pigs, but they do get up earlier now it's lighter. :))

my neutered boar is being more feisty at the moment... the girls are getting a bit fed up of it!

Yes i do believe that it maybe spring that causing this behaviour, as one of my boars got very frisky with his frined a few weeks ago! I was so paranoid about it even though the other boar just let him 'carry on' and it lasted a few hours and then all was back to normal. :)

I did read somewhere that the time of the year could cause males to have a hormone overload. rolleyes

I think it probably does. Spring is, essentially, a time for 'mating' (which is what they'd do in the wild) so boars probably tend to get a bit friskier than usual. I've noticed lots of my sows are more boisterous as it warms up too!

I like hormone overload commet, I've noticed there little grease spots are getting moments when they are quite smelly... if I am right they are associated with their hormones and smell.
