Does my piggie have mites?

I have 2 pigs, Solomon and Raymond both about 1 year and half old. I've had them for a year. I noticed that Solomon seems to scratch himself alot. At first I thought it was just him grooming but I noticed when I scratch the centre of his back he really doesnt like it and gets very irritated. Over the weekend I had a look at his skin, I couldnt see anything moving but I did notice a bit of dry skin. I gave him a wash with shampoo specifically for guinea pigs and combed him and there was alot of dead skin flakes in the bath. I thought that would relieve him a bit but he does still seem to be scratching himself and his friend Raymond is also itching himself but not quite so much. Any ideas?

Its always best to go straight to the vet and not give them a bath. Bathing can hide evidence the vet needs to make a diagnosis. Mites are also not visible to the human eye so you will not be able to see anything moving.
