Hello, I'm Charles and ill be getting two female guinea pigs in the next couple of weeks and I finally finished assembling everything and I feel like I have everything in the cage that I need. I was hoping to know what I could add or remove that a piggie might like or need. I have a few hides, an oats cylinder tunnel, The water bottle, the corner trough for hay, and the pellet bowl.(ill add a veggie bowl later). Thanks for any and all advice

Is that pine shavings? If so not the best for guinea pigs ..how many do You plan to house in the cage as it's a minimum of 8 ft per guinea pig..the hay area could be a problem as well the openings don't look big enough for them to get their mouths into it ...but other than that looks okay

The cage looks great. The hay rack will work fine (for adult pigs). I have the same hay rack. If you are planning to get babies, they can get their heads stuck in the bars. You'll have to babyproof the cage.

@Jecf The cage in the pic is a 2x4 C&C cage, which is about 10.5 sq.ft.

Pine shavings is ok, if it's kiln dried.

When can I move in? :) loos good to me and I'm sure they'll love it. As others have said just be wary of younger piggies getting their heads stuck in any holes and the bedding is fine so long as it's dust free etc. Another great alternative is fleece.

your cage looks great and when your girls will grow up you will make some changes; I think your will need to change the boxes, but recycled stuff is always available and of course depends on the size of the pig. Your piggies will suggest what they need and if a 120cm will be little next months, you can arrange a part of a room for them and let them have a long floor time, keeping the little cage for the night.
I also have a 130cmx80 and I cannot have a larger cage.

therefore my piggies spend half day free into the kitchen

Oh okay if it's 2 females should be fine then I know with males you need more space and yes fleece is so nice and so easy to care for so glad I switched ....

yes, the fleece is a great choice, cheap, practical and easy. In Italy nobody knows it but I am very satisfied of it.

I bought a cheap hand held vaccum to clean up poop work great

Great cage. I have a hay area for my two girls. Lots of hay piled up in a 32 litre under bed storage box, a grow tray and some pound land cat litter trays! I also put a hemp bedding under the hay to soak up the wee.

The rest of my cage is fleece. They love things to hide under and tunnels to go into. Open space is not so appreciated.

your cage is amazing even because it is so long and Mistletoe&Jingle can zoom before jumping into the pile of hay!:yahoo:
