I have to ask as Astro, who we presume is nearly 7 (in Feb it will be 6 years since he was rescued as part of the famous 285 and was probably full grown - he was 1200 gms in the June when we collected him from RSPCA Walsall) has been on Metacam since early in the year. We have noticed that as part of his 4 weekly dentals (thats been ongoing 2 1/2 years now) his weight has touch wood stabilised and on Monday he had gained 50 gms to 880gms.

But the big problem is he is now even more attentive to the girls even when not in season. It is funny with Luna (a Sheltie) as he struggles to get a purchase and often slides of and he shakes his head in puzzlement.

However it wasnt funny in August in the Caravan as the one night he was at it every 10 minutes with Twinkle (who is very vocal) and in between he clanked the water bottle (a piggy analogy to the proverbial cigarette).

I am assuming the metacam is now helping his mobility to such an extent he now wishes to mount every female piggy he can meet (until the impending cataracts limit his senses to smell)

I have had neutered boars on long term metacam for arthritis or other issues and have not had these problems; they have become more active overall again (including sexually) but not excessively so. Their changes have been just due to the lack of pain/discomfort and increased mobility. It is difficult to say as reaction to drugs can differ individually.
