I know this doesnt answer your question but 2 of my boys squeeel when I push their hairbackwards might be a sign of being uncomfortable? x

it does but i brush her hair the way its grown

I think the answer is 'not necessarily'. She may merely dislike it. They do have sensitive skin though, so it could hurt if you hit a snag.
Long haired pigs do need either brushing or trimming as if their fur gets matted they can get unpleasant skin problems underneath. If you can't get her to accept being brushed, you may have to give her a haircut instead.

Our long haired pig doesn't like been combed - although a mouthfull of parsley does help.

Be sure to trim the fur around her bottom as this gets matted very easily. I comb the ends while holding the fur to make sure I'm not pulling the fur and causing pain.
She still rumbles her disaproval though, especially when brushing round the bottom and flanks!

It could just be pulling her skin ever so slightly. Are you able to hold the top of the hair, next to the skin, then brush, so you stop the hair being pulled?

I hope that makes sense, I can take a photo of how I do Dodge like this if you like as he dislikes all form of grooming apart from just getting all his hair cut off!

my abyssinian peter didnt like it and i could never get him to stay still, but then i tried giving him his favourite food (kale) and he was so interested in the food he didnt notice i was brushing him :)

My Ena an abyssinian / coronet cross so has long fur and when I brush her, I hold the fur whilst gently brushing. She squeaks all the way though but she once had a mat which I accidentally pulled and it was obvious I'd hurt her by the noise she made. She sounded like she was being murdered :(
Luckily in the 3 months I have had her, she has only had 3 small mats which I have just cut out.

Eleanor and Eliza are both short haired and will lay down on my lap and be brushed. Erin is an abyssinian / himi cross and although her fur isn't long, it sticks up and grows in different directions. She will rumble especially when her fur is brushed the wrong way although I have learned which section of fur grows in which direction.

When choosing a brush, the softer the bristles the better. If you can not find a suitable pet brush, a baby brush will work just as well :)
