Doing health checks and nail trims today I noticed that Theo age 4 years 9 months has 2 soft squishy sort of wiggly shaped lumps- just under an inch across- one at his belly button and one in his scrotal sack (he's neutered over 4 years ago as soon as he was old enough).

He had a tiny less than pea sized soft bulge at his belly button place at his last home health check 6 weeks ago but it was a bit of an is there/isnt there, keep an eye, check next time thing and we had much sicker piggies to worry about...

It doesnt match what you get with cysts, abscesses or common tumours and the positions of the lumps are just the places middle aged human blokes get hernias and I wonder if anyone has seen anything similar?

He has a vet appointment Thursday and the lumps arent painful or obvious to the casual observer they are just... squishy asymmetric bulges you can feel and see on a piggy who you know very well when you are inspecting his lovely familar undercarriage.

Piggy daddy is distraught because we have lost too many middle aged piggies recently and he's cross I found something wrong with his all time favourite boar baby but... Theo is a middle aged bloke now despite still having cute little pink baby feetsies and being his daddy's favourite, and he has a couple of lumps :(

Nosgan was about 3 years when he got a hernia as a neutering op complication several months after his pre-adoption op - but yes, hernias can happen. All it takes is a weakness in the wall and some tissue pushing through the tiny hole. In a mild case, the hernia can disappear/reappear again. However, only a vet can tell you after a hands-on examination.

PS: Nosgan lived over 2 years with his inoperable hernia.

All the best!

Fingers crossed here for handsome Theo. Hope it's nothing serious.xx

Long shot but is there an update on this thread and how the little piggie is doing now? I have a girl with a post op hernia trying to do as much research as I can. X

I don’t know what the lumps turned out to be in the end, but Theo is still living it up with the rest of @PigglePuggle 's herd.
Hope your sow is OK x

Thank you for your fast reply it’s really appreciated. Ah that is good news ! So they didn’t suspect hernia and they didn’t get any bigger. Good boy Theo!
