My dog loves his snuffle mat (for those who don't know, it's a pile of woven fleece that you sprinkle treats on and he has to sniff and find them..

I saw in one of the guinea pig magazines that they were advertising small ones for pigs but I wasnt sure whether they would like them? Or whether trying to find their veg amongst the fleece would be too frustrating or fun? Has anyone got one?

This is my dogs...

Any views anyone ?

Guinea pigs are foragers so, this should be a good idea ...

I don't have one, but am reserving judgement about how they would work for guinea pigs.

Personally my cheap alternative is to fling a handful of small chopped veggie pieces into a large box or bag of hay and let them snuffle around in that.
But maybe I am just cheap and unimaginative :coat:

To be fair though they can easily be home made and would cost very cheap to make haha. Just want to make sure it's a good idea before buying one/ making one hmmm

My concern would be that they would end up eating quite a lot of small fibers from the fleece, which probably wouldn't directly make them ill, but is still not a great idea. When I empty my hand-held vacuum I usually see some fleece fibre (particularly with relatively new fleece). At least if you sprinkle food bits amongst hay or even wood shaving type beddings, they are breathing in extra natural materials, not plastic. (Fleece is a kind of plastic.) I occasionally sprinkle pea flakes amongst their hay in the hay tray, and they love it.

I didn't think of them eating extra fibers from the fleece. Oww I really wanted this to work as I thought it would be nice to get them something different

Now that's the problem.
They look so comfy that I reckon my lot would hoover through the veg in no time at all and then just use it as a bed!

My clients use it as an enrichment toy at 'playtime' and my guinea pigs start wheeking like mad when they see it come out! I take it away when they're done and wash it ready for next time.:tu:
