Does any one use a stacking c&c with other pets?

Hi guys

I was looking at getting the 5x2 stacking c&c for my two pairs of boars, to maximise their space. But although I can buy a lid to protect the top set of pigs, the pigs on the bottom I can't work out how I'd stop my cats getting in (who would lay all over the fleece and ignore the pigs 🙄). Does anyone use the stacking? Would you recommend it? Thank you.

I'll post a photo below x

That’s gunna be awful to clean :)) Would you be able to just do 2 cages and a table to put the top one? Then you could have 2 lids and slide the bottom cage out for easy cleaning?

I wouldn’t personally use that as it doesn’t look all that stable, my pigs hurtle around like mad things so they would probably break it :)) Or my cat would! 🙄

Edit: I use ikea tables to mount my C&C, they’ve been fab :)

I’ve been thinking the same thing recently @Potterpig, would love a big C&C but my pair of cats are almost 13 and don’t go out much, that’d be a perfect thing to rub themselves all over and trash! Don’t feel safe with one on the floor, they’d want to lay on it and snoop inside!
I don’t think I’ve ever even seen/felt a C&C in person, so no idea how stable they are really, but my cats are 5kg and their favourite hobby is to lay on things!

That definitely looks hard to clean though like @Cavy Kung-Fu says!

My C&C is fixed to a piece of ply and this sits on our dining room table with the legs chopped in half 🙄 this does help make it more sturdy... trying to find a solution is hard for @Potterpig if only shops sold C & C then you can look/touch see them etc...

We have one of these for our four boars. We have a small box room and couldn’t find tables to fit so we opted for his. It is a bit tricky to clean on the ground floor but we have found it quite sturdy with our boisterous boars! Whilst it’s not ideal in some ways, the space we have dictated our set up. We can close the door so our cat cannot get in when we are out. Works well for us.

You could build like that but make a ‘door’ of some sort that you can open for the bottom. Either hinged so you lift it, or they open out to the sides. I can only think of bull clips you could use to hold them closed, but I’m sure there’s a better alternative.

The front on my bottom cage is all open, and the upper level is stabilised with wood that I passed through underneath. image.webpimage.webp

Thank you everyone! I don't know what the answer is. Ron and hagrid are happy in their cage, but buzz and woody... Well I don't like the ramp. If one runs up it and the other is at the top we get teeth chattering. I also thought the bottom one would be a pain to clean. My oldest two cats are 14 and 13, they'd be laying all over that fleece within seconds 🙈

Just to mention. We had the bottom floor partitioned at the time because Beanie has a leg injury so we were restricting his movements for a few weeks. It’s a bit tricky. You have to be agile. It will be easier when we get some made to measure cage liners. I see /siikibam’s cage is more open at the front and reinforced with wood. I might have done things differently if we had more space. It works for us. They’re expensive but I wish I’d invested in one when we had Peppy. He would have loved it. We live and learn. x
