Hi i was wondering if you need to put grids on the base of a c and c or can you just put the correx straight inside. My c and c will be in a shed that is lined with lino xx

The purpose of the grids is so that the piggies cannot jump out. If your cage is up against a wall, I think it’s optional to have grids.

Grids are also helpful so you can attach water bottles and hay racks to them.

If you mean building a stand out of grids, it is ideal to have a stand for the cage. Floor vibrations can scare piggies, and temperature near the floor isn’t always ideal.

I am going to put grids around the sides but was wondering if you have to put them on the floor of the cage. I thought about only putting two walls on eitger side but figures i ld just do all four so i can move it if i need too. Do you reccomend a hay rack or can i just put it on the floor?

A hay rack will make it a lot easier to clean if you are using fleece.

Piggies usually prefer to have a pile of hay to burrow in, but this can get messy. I just provide mine with a snuggle sack to burrow in, as I have fleece.

You can always have a hay tray. Mine are outside piggies and live in a hutch but when they are out in the run I have an old cat transporter box which I have taken the top off and lined with paper and pop in loads of hay and they just love to burrow in it. Some people use small dog basket.

that sounds great. Could I use cat litter trays xx

I've a cat litter tray with hay and a hay rack in one cage, and the other as a big plastic storage box into which I cut two doorways, and that is lined and filled with hay. It really is your peference. I have a base on one cage, so it has grids underneath, but the other is just directly on the floor, so I only put a grid in each corner to try to keep the shape better, but it's not really required.
