Hi all! I was just wondering whether wet surfaces (grass) can cause bumble foot, because I'm pretty sure I looked this up a while ago that it can, but now google doesn't say 🤷‍♀️
I like to take my guinea onto the grass daily but when it rains I can't because I'm worried she'll get bumble foot?
Thanks :)

Hi

Bumblefoot is caused by germs getting into tiny cracks in the skin. Sitting in their own faeces or in uncleaned cages/hutches can contribute to the risk of it as feaces particles can build up on the surface.

While putting your piggies onto wet grass is not a good idea in itself (risk of a urinary or respiratory tract infection if they get cold), it is not going to cause bumblefoot.
