Ever since I started working, I've been out the house for a large majority of time, as my shifts are part time but it's a fair drive to get to work. So, although the pigs are still fed/watered/given attention to/let out in the run, obviously I am dashing about and do not spend so much time just sitting with them.

They seem to know this, and every time I walk out the door, they wheek like anything ;D it's like they know i'm busy and are saying 'don't forget' ;D

Mine do this as well. When i'm at work i'm out of the house from 6.20 am to 4.45pm As soon as I open the back door they start wheeking as if to say 'hey, we're here you no". They get fed early most days apart from at the weekend when i'm off. They wheek like mad when they don't get fed at the 'usual' time. Don't worry though, your pigs will soon get use to when you're going to be around. They're probably more happy that you're working so you can buy them lots of veggies :smitten:

Yes, every once in a while when we are really busy with ball games (my husband coaches 5th and 6th grade basketball) or rarely have to leave them overnight, they squeek and wheek when we return and purr. They are just like cats and dogs they love seeing you.

My boys always know when its time for work. They have breakfast & get put back in their cage. It's great as I leave them happy & munching away! I do love listening to them munching their veggies, fighting over the celery leaves...

Back to the point, I am sure they know when I am home. I have a dog who I need to let out to the ladies as soon as I get in & usually one or two of my boys are sat looking out of the cage hopefully! 88) 88) They know that very soon freedom will be theirs!
Often then seem to know wehn I have fresh veggies for them - spinach, greens, cucumber! They love their food (just like theri mum!)

I went away recently for 6 days & they ignored me for a couple of days! :tickedoff: >:( :'( it was their way of telling me off for deserting them! However, bribery with some cucumber soon won them around! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

Another wonderful thing is that when my dog stayed away, she had to go & check the cage to make sure all the boys were there too! It was so sweet! :smitten:

It's so hard when we have to leave them. Mine have got so used to loads of people around as we have moved home to parents' for a bit. I am quite worried about when I move into a new place of my own; I think they will miss the extra company a lot.

I am worried about mine too, I wonder if I should stop working late evenings and spend more time with them :-\

When i first got my rescue pigs they would ignore me and didnt want anything to do with people.now they weeek at me everytime they hear me walking around or talking.even get yelled at by them when they hear my car.they dont do this to anyone else which is sweet

I hate leaving my boys too, but I always say bye & then hello when I get back home! :D :D :D
I think this helps them realise that I will be back again & they know that when i get in, they can run for freedom - if they want to!

We had to leave our pigs alone overnight recently. We left on one morning after feeding them and leaving extra food, hay, etc. We returned the next morning, and they had turned over all their houses, thrown their fleece all around (got under it and moved it all), etc. They never do anything like this. I immediately ran in to see them and picked them up, and they bit me, which they never do :(
