i know a sign of aggresive behaviour is yawning.... but about 10mins ago my boar weasly was having lap time he seemed pretty settled as i was combing him with a tooth brush he had been on my lap for about 15mins then all of a sudden he made a very faint sound almost like a little sneeze and then yawned... i was a little bit worrid i was going to loose a finger so i sort of wiggled my legs so he we t on the sofa i left him for a out 2mins then picked him up put him in his box carried him outside picked him uo again and placed him in his hutch happy to say i have all ten fingers remaining..... So since i am very new to piggies i was wondering was this weasly warning me or do guinea pigs just yawn like we do when relaxing!

do you think the sound i herd was hissing tho since i dont no what hissing sounds like i have nothing to compair to x

There are two different yawns.

The more normal one is the usual tiredness yawn when a piggy is lying down or waking up from a nap.

The other yawn is a dominance behaviour that you see during introductions or when piggies have a bit of a spat. It is more of a gesture to say "I may bite you if you attack me" (but by far not all piggies will follow through as it is more of way of preventing a fight than an inivitation to a fight). In this case, you usually have two tense piggies facing each other.

well dont i feel a fool  after a little bit more research i think weasley had fallen asleep on my lap and just woke up and had a good yawn lol i didnt realise piggies could sleep with their eyes open since i have never had guinea pigs b4 this is all new to me.... thought it was a bit strange when he rested his head on my lap

We are here to help you understand your piggies better! To be honest, it is better to ask a "stupid" question than to do something wrong because you daren't ask.

Considering that most people assume that tiredness yawning is not worth mentioning, you will only find the dominance yawning when you google, so it was not a silly question to ask.

i am more happy than anything to think after only 6 days weasly feels confortable enough with me to have a sleep on my lap.... unless i have got it totally wrong and by this time next week i will have a few less fingers lol.... thanks for your help guys dont know what i would do with out this forum x
