Hi there, I have had my girls about 5 weeks now. Last week I moved them out to their new hutch which they seem to like.

Most evenings I bring them in to have a run about in the large indoor run I have. However when I am taking them back to the hutch at bed time, they have gone from snuggling up under my chinkto nipping on my top and necklace and also taking a chunk of me.

They aren't needing a wee, so either they dont like me or they dont want to go back outside.

How can I discourage the biting. I really loved it when they snuggled.

thank you

pz forgot to say they are about 13 weeks old

They are possibly frightened about being carried. I would carry them out in a box or animal carrier you use for vets

They generally don't like being carried and much prefer some one to be sitting down holding them. Also I've come to realise any jewellery I wear is going to get chewed on even if they are in a non bitey mood.

Are they just testing you out to see if you are edible?!
I really dont think they hate you! They might be scared though...

Thanks guys. They seem perfectly happy when they are on my lap and also when I am taking them in for their run. So maybe its a case of being frightened and that they dont want to go back.

I will try using their carry box to move them next time.

I hope it isnt cos they hate me cos I enjoy it when they snuggle against me!

When I give mine floor time I put them in their carrier and leave it down and open while they are out so they can run in and out of it,this way they get use to it.They have got to the stage where when they have had enough floor time they all go back in it and lay down and wait for me to close it and take them home.

We have a nibbler, well I say nibbler I mean Chomper :)) 'Vimto' a real vampire piggy she would bite me none stop during laptime, turns out she was just scared. It took 7 months of so but we have gained her trust and she rarely does it now.
They will soon settle, I recommend starting out with 2 mins laptime then a week later increase to 3 mins and so forth. As others have said the carrier is a good idea. Early days yet and you sound like a great owner, you will gain there trust.
