Hi everyone!
I'm adopting Guineas from a rescue soon, and I will be keeping them indoors. I will give them floor time and enriment every day. Would indoor Guinea Pigs enjoy time grazing in my garden in a run? Or would they be happier indoors? Thanks!

If so, how long should they spend outside?

My girls love going out in the summer to spend time on the grass! Just remember a few rules.

1. If it’s too hot / cold for you to comfortable sit outside, it’s too hot / cold for them.

2. Make sure the run is completely enclosed and secure.

3. Don’t put them out on damp grass as they could get wet and cold.

4. Don’t put them in direct sunlight. Piggies prefer the shade and it prevents them from getting burnt or over heating.

5. Like with all diet changes, introduce grass to your guinea pigs slowly. Offer them a hand of grass every other day then up it to every day. Then put them out for 30mins at a time and slowly increase the time over a couple of weeks. This helps to prevent cases of bloat.

Thanks, I will sit with my piggies while they are outside, not leave them, and will introduce grass abover the next couple of months. That's really helpful, thanks!

I have been giving my lot a bit of grass for a week or so and yesterday they had there first sojurn on the lawn for half and hour, another half an hour this morning. Tomorrow it will be an hour then again the next day. I will give them lawn time for an exta half an hour every 2 days until they are on the grass all day. They complain bitterly when I put them on the patio again (they are outside piggies) but it is for their own good.

Enjoying First Taste Of Grass This Year!
