Do Guinea pigs "know" certain people?

Altogether we have 7 GP's. 3 boars and four sows.

Two of the boars, Angel and Chocolate are indoor and are much more sociable that the other pigs who live in the garden in hutches.

Anyway, the more dominant pig, Angel is the friendliest of all but he seems to "know" me more than anyone else. When I go near the cage he runs to the bars to see me. If I open the cage he literally climbs out and tries to clamber up my jumper! If I have him on the floor and sit down, he jumps on me and goes to sleep.

The other day, my partner was harrassing him trying to stick a santa hat on his head on the sofa and he broke away and came running to me x) So sweet.

He's not like this with anyone else though. Do they know certain people more than others?

From what I have seen I would say so because my babies definitely never try to run from me but if my mom tries to pick the piglets up they run. The piglets mom Mocha seems to like my mom more than me and my other sow Moo prefers me over my mom

they'll 'prefer' the person who feeds them first, the one who spends time with them and the one who is nicest to them (according to personality). My Finlay never settles with me but does with OH however, he always comes to me in the run for a chin tickle, but won't budge for OH... malletheadmallethead

Of my 3, they know I bring them food, but they recognise both our individual voices/footsteps. It was really interesting when we'd been away for a week, as only Holly (who is very intelligent - more so than any piggy I've ever had before) remembered me - the other 2 ran away and hid! rolleyes:))

The piggies definitely know certain people, and some have preferences.

My older piggies recognise my mum-in-law when she visits and don't act like there was a complete stranger in the room.

I was given a 6 month old boar earlier this year because his owner couldn't control him, he kept biting her. He is one of the friendliest pigs I have!
His previous owner has kept pigs for many years and never had any bother with any of her other pigs.
