Do boars definitely need two of everything?

Because if I put in two beds, two bowls, two hideys etc I fear they would have no room to move about!
Thanks :)

They do need two of everything as they may fight otherwise. Would you think about getting a c and c cage? That would give them plenty of space.

We've only just got them and haven't got the money for a new set up at this stage. They are well bonded brothers of 18mths old. Think we'll just have to sort out a larger run and put them in that for a chunk of the day.

Hi Sharon, I know this may seem like a strange question but did they come with the set up they are now in? There are quite a few second hand large cages going on ebay at the moment really cheap or you could try a request on freecycle? ;)

I have two pairs of brothers 2 years old this year and they share a bottle, pellet dish and veggie bowl. Have separate hideys and sleep where they choose with no issues.
Your boys are past the 'hormonal' stage and are probably settled so as long as they have a lot of room, should be ok. A run for the day time is probably your best bet until you can sort a larger space - ours were in floor enclosures all day and only in their pens overnight to sleep until we changed to c & c.
Our boys now have 6ft x 3ft pens with upper levels, sleep near to each other and have been perfect friends since they were all six weeks old x)
I think the issue with boys is when they are very young and sorting the heirarchy out - once that is established, most live together happily :))
Can only vouch for my experience though rolleyes

They didn't come with their cage but we thought we were getting petite girls and have got bigger boys instead so the cage seems smaller just cos they are bigger iyswim! I have just bought a larger swallower pellet dish then it's easier to share and an extra water bottle, the veg dish is quite large anyway. Will work on sorting on large indoor run.

That should say shallower not swallower, autocorrect, grrrr!

I've got two of everything and my boys are 3 months old. They live in a chicken coop and in the indoor area all i have room for is two beds and two bowls, they have a bridge and a tunnel too.
The other set of toys are in their run but they get locked in at night and i've never had any marks etc. on my pigs however my friends who own piggies say how close they seem so i could just be a lucky one (had to separate at the start as i got worried but they didn't like being separated and they've been fine ever since).

I was worried about this for their indoor cage but honestly they just barge through light toys and climb over the heavier ones :)

Hi, my 2 boys are almost 4 now and theyve always shared a bottle and nugget bowl, their veggie bowl is one of the double cat ones but they both eat from both sides. For a long time they had one pigloo and always shared nicely. Now they have a larger space I've given them an extra pigloo but they still share one :)) they just swap :)) Not all piggies will be that well behaved but as someone else said they are now over the hormonal stage and will hopefully be fine :)

Two of everything is of most import during the hormonal stage, as yours are past this now it should be fine. Atm my boys are sharing food bowls and water bottle but have a hidey each and they seem to be getting on well, possibly because they don't really eat at the same time. If you're worried or they start squabling over things then you may have to think of an alternative but if they're fine for now then don't worry about it :)

I woke up in the middle of the night to find one of my boars sitting by himself in the dark. Worked myself up into such a state that I went out that morning to buy him his own little house. He went into the house for a little while but then I found him back with the other. He must have missed his bro :)

Personally i don't give my boars two of each, i did in the early stages but they actually love sharing. The only thing they have two of is their food bowls as they can't get their noses in one bowl! I guess it may depend on their personality as my boars are very docile and don't seem territorial at all!

My two boys share everything. One bottle, one food bowl. We do have a little guinea pig tent (dont ask) outside of their main hideaway so there is an option for one guinea to sleep seperately. Sometimes one of the piggies uses this and sometimes they sleep curled up together under their shelter.
