Hi

I was just wondering whether boars are more likely to go through adolesence and still get on well if there are females around? Will the smells make them more aggressive or humpy towards each other? Does anyone have any boar pairs living happily in closish proximity to ladies?

Hi sorry to be a pain (or should that be boaring? lol) but I would love to know because I promised a friend I'd find out for her, she may be getting a pair of boars but doesn't want to if her girlies will affect their chances of getting on through their growing up and grown up years.

i wouldn't recomend putting females in with males. they will probebly act aggressive towards each other or even fight mallethead. i'v got one male in with 4 females and its fine. my boy has only even got on with his sons when we had them. but i wouldn't put another male in with him rolleyes

I have 3 females close by to my males. It affected them differently. I had to split a pair up because they started attacking each other, some of the others got riled up but were fine after a while and some didn't bother at all. So I think it depends on the pair of Guinea pigs really.

Thanks, I thought that was probably the case but wanted to check. I think she's concerned that she may have to separate them at a later date which would be a shame as they seem to be living really happily together at the moment.

I know I had three boars living together years ago, they were close to girls and sometimes shared the same run (at different times) and they got on fine as long as they had enough space. Thought I'd check they weren't anomalies!
