We've had our gorgeous girls for nearly a month now. Shadow enjoys zooming around and popcorning, but I've never seen Snuggles popcorn, she does run around, but not as fast as Shadow. Do all cavies popcorn or like humans, do they all have their different ways! Thank you

Like humans dancing, piggies also have their own unique popcorning style, and some prefer to sit out the dancing! ;)

Thank you, that's reassuring! Glad Snuggles is happy in her own way! Shadow is definitely feeling the dance vibes though!

I also rarely catch their popcorning and they never do that during floor time when they have a whole room just for themselves. They do some popcorn into their cage and Calliope starts running around like a mad, when Calipso prefers jumping only. I think they sometimes do popcorning when we are not there to look at them... ;)

I'm hoping that applies to their drinking too as I've only once seen one interested in the bottle spout! Think they're getting enough water from their veg. Ahh, Calliope & Calipso sound lovely & very lucky having a whole room that's all theirs! x

drinking? what are you talking about?:woot: ahaha! My piggies have been NEVER drinking a single drop of water since their birth! and they are 6 months old and wee a lot... I don't know what to think about it... but the vet says it is okay.
I arranged my kitchen for them, but they often sleep into some hidey...:(

Flash is the popcorner and Fifi tends to be more reserved. Although there is an occasional popcorn from Fifi. It's funny because Fifi tends to be more outgoing then Flash, but I suppose Flash can have his outgoing moments as well. Mine weren't interested in thier water bottle at first, even though they had used one regularly from the previous foster carer. I think they needed time to adjust to new surroundings.

I put a bit of juice from their favourite veggies on the spout to tempt them, and coaxed them with the same vegetable to the spout and eventually they were persuaded.

I was really worried when I bought my two new girls home, they never touched the water bottles at all, for days. I was really surprised when I did their first cage clean and there was evidence of a LOT of wee on the newspaper! Phew! The water bottles are now being used, but only by Maisie - not seen Alice partake as yet, but having seen the wet newspaper underneath their deep shavings, I'm not worried!

anyway, joking aside, our hydration depends mostly on the amount of water we get from the food, not on the water drunk. I can say I never drink, epsecially in summer! and I don't even put a glass for me on the table. But I eat more vegs than an herbivore... and I don't eat dried food either ;) (nor do my piggies)

Mine don't drink either, I'm on my 3rd bottle and try to encourage them during cuddle time, but they are not at all interested. I was happy as I once thought they must have drank as the water went down a tiny bit, but then realised that was from the bottle leaking! X

Ooh, mine love coriander so I'll try rubbing that against the otter spout, thank you! I have the same as Shadow (the one who is always zooming and popcorning) is the shy one out of the two and Snuggles who moved around at cuddle time, while Shadow froze, isn't a zoomer or popcorner! I love their funny ways! X

Another trick is to actually insert the corriander so the leafy part sticks out of the spout, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't but with time I'm sure it will. Good Luck!

Great tip! X

I have one headbanger...because he looks like he belongs in a heavy metal mosh pit when he's popcorning, long hair everywhere. As for water bottles, they both refused to use a bottle til I switched to glass bottles. Picky sods. They had a bowl before that and were happy to drink from that, so it wasn't that they weren't thirsty.

Ha! I can just imagine his long locks flaying whilst he dances! I've tried a bowl, glass bottles, small and large plastic bottles and just popped some coriander up the spout, but the cheeky monkeys just ate the coriander, at least they sniffed the bottle! Xx
