The girls have been living in our living room in what would normally be their outdoor pen since well before Christmas, but it just took up too much space and I wanted something a little more permenant looking to see them through to Spring.

Anyway, I bought them a Ferplast Rabbit 120 cage mid-week which looked massive in the shop and only just fit in may car. I had to flatten the back seats and put the passenger seat forward. (It is a tiny Fiat 500 though :)) ) Needless to say, once I got it home and put in all the girls' bits and bobs, it was too small for the three of them and I had to take out Willow's favourite pigloo for more floor space :(

I've spent most of the day re-jigging it and adding ' a penthouse' which gives them an extra foot an a half of floor space :)

Thumbs up from Willow I think

They still have a fleece 'tent' which they love to wriggle under. The cream fleece under the grey shelf is quite loose so the can snuggle underneath it. There's also a vetbed under there too for extra comfort.

They have a corner litter tray filled with hay in the far corner (you can't see it in these pics though)

The ramp is borrowed from their hutch so looks a little tatty in their newly cleaned cage! :))

Thanks for looking. What do you think?

Shell its fabulous and Willow looks oh so very chilled :)!

My only concern would be the bridge, I can't tell by the photo, but it does look like it maybe a big drop for a little piggie if one was to fall? Or are they able to just jump up and down from it?

Would it be worth putting something along the side?

Looks great and a definate hit with wee willow who might I add looks adorable, but I'm wondering about a side on the ramp I'm an original worry wart.

Thanks guys :) xx>>>

looks great what did you use to make the second floor?and willow certainly looks comfy

The floor in made from a piece of mdf. This is screwed onto two wooden bars which sit onto the bars of the cage. There's an overhang of about half an inch each side so there's no risk of the floor slipping out and falling. The whole thing is wrapped in fleece with a puppy pad underneath.

The ramp was a bit of a concern of mine too, especially when in their hutch as the angle is much steeper (and the drop greater) but (touch wood, cross fingers etc..) we've had no accidents.

Saying that, I think you're both right and will be adding a little fence of some sort along the side tomorrow to keep them safe. My main concern is now Pixel who tends to have mad half hours and run in circles at a billion miles an hour! :))

Ooh, Good call! Thanks Joanne. I can just use duck tape to hold it in place. It'll definatley do as a temporary thing whilst I figure out something more permenant. :)

Pippa and Pixel have a bit of a thing for munching cardboard you see! rolleyes

OOh that's a nice modification, great job!

They do look happy. :)

Ditto the ramp comments.

Thanks Lisa :) It was seeing yours that actually gave me the idea :))

I've managed to attach some corrugated cardboard to the ramp with duck tape (which has been nibbled on the edge already rolleyes ) to keep them safe for tonight. I'm gonna nip into Homebase tomorrow for something a bit more permenant. I'm thinking the wooden beading stuff you can get that's about 3" or so deep can probably be attached to the 'steps' pretty easily.

Thanks for the suggestions guys :)

why not use a little drain pipe guttering and line it with coard carpet you could fix this to the shelves i found this worked very well in one of my older cages ...:) use this has a ramp xx
