So I have decide to try out fleece liners in my cages I was not willing to pay 30-80 euro on a fleece liner just incase it didnt work for me so I have decide to make fleece liners I've done lots of research on how to make them and what products to use. All together to make 4 fleece liners it coated me 27 euro. Yes you have hear correct 27 euro. Of course these are just a trial to see if I like using fleece liners. They look really nice i bought really absorbent towels for the inside of the fleece liner and I got 100% polyester fleece which plenty of research suggested. I did not have to see these together I simply folded them In a way that one small stitch around each corner of the fleece held it together. These stitches will fall of in the wash but I would rather take apart the liner to wash it anyway. If anybody wants to see the processes of making these just let me know.

It is soooooo much cheaper to make your own! I made my own as well - luckily my boyfriend's mom has a sewing machine which saved me a lot of time and money. I think for me 1 fleece liner cost about....$15? And they sell it online for $50! It's insane! But the cutting of the fleece and the absorbent layer does take some time, in addition to going out to buy specific fleece patterns for those that sell custom ones.

Yeah I suppose I just wasnt risking big money on somthing that I might not like

I diy my fleece too. I have never bothered to sew the layers together, I just lay them in on top of each other. I've read that some guineas burrow under but mine seem to just burrow in the fleecy tunnels I've made instead. I feel like separate layers must be more convenient for washing.

Yeah I'm the same my pigs have hides instead of burrowing

Do you know what I find also work? Especially on long haired furbabies? I buy cheapy thin cage liners for dog cages (the smallest ones) these are avaliable on our local market for 5 or 6 pounds. Sometimes less... the padding is just thick enough to be comfy and the absorbancy is just as good and easy to launder.
Tho my girls like fleece they do burrow, so I find these are better for me. But the boys and the piggy house still have filtered extracted safe wood shavings and litter pellets. They have a soil box to scratch in and a gravel box too. I find my piggies are enriched by lots of safe textures and places to hide. They love the grass tray, and herb trough. But they eat it faster than it grows!

Thank you this is so helpful

It's great that you've made your own fleece, especially as you're trying it out if see if you and your piggies like it.
When you buy ready made fleece, you are also paying for the person's time; as Ilovegilberttheguineapig says; this can take quite a long time :tu:
Yeah I understand that its strange but I enjoyed making it and I'm very pleased the piggies like it as they give me so much joy and I feel like I've just repaid them

😂😂😂 how cute we all know they will win because if your like me one look fron them and they get what they want
They won’t win! They aren’t cute when they’ve been sitting directly on the correx in a puddle of their own pee! They are a horrible smelly mess! So I use roughly eleventy billion safety pins and bulldog clips and my best “stopit” voice... it works until they find a weak spot then I have a nightmare getting them out again because of all the safety pins!

Awwww if u have any wooden hides place them in spots where the fleece may have gaps to weigh it down and try using paper clips or Bobby pins I find Bobby pins work for me

Weight doesn’t work, they bash it out of the way. I don’t have bobby pins so I’ll carry on with crippling my fingers every cage change!
