First time cutting boys nails myself. Machu was great but Picchu was another story he moved when I was doing his front paw and I accidentally cut the quick. I feel horrible it's bleeding much more than I thought it would. I don't have any styptic powder. Is there anything else I can do for him? Will he be OK to go back into his hutch?! I'm panicking 😭😭

Thank you for the advice. He just keeps trying to eat the cotton wool🙄🙄 how long should it take for the bleeding to stop? Will he be OK to go back into hutch after, I'm worried about infection

His nail is still bleeding 😟😟 he is leaving blood all round his hutch. I have tried corn starch.

Looks like it may be slowing down now bless him. I feel so bad for hurting him 😞

I would contact your vet to see if he can be seen, that is a long time for the bleeding to stop and it looks quite sore. Accidents happen so dont be too hard on yourself x

Dabbing cornflour on the end of the nail is the alternative to styptic powder but if the bleeding doesn’t stop within 15 minutes, then speak to a vet

It's stopped bleeding as much as it did but when he touches my hand he's leaving little smears of it still. It looks like I cut the quick quite badly, the nail is super short now. Do you think he'll be OK now without a vet or still see one?

I think he would benefit from a vet visit so they can assess if there is any risk of infection getting in and if he needs any pain meds

Hope he’s ok and I hope you’re ok too.

Cutting a quick that won’t stop bleeding can be rather a scare
