sorry but I'm not sure it will - reading the reviews there's no padding or wadding there to absorb, just a waterproof sheet.

I made my own liners and wound up buying zorb by the metre to use as the core. I wanted to be able to put them in the drier and, for the size of our cage, to get mattress protectors that I could dry to do the job was going to be about the same price or even more from what I could see. If you dig around on eBay you may find some that will tick all your boxes (or if your cage isn't square like ours you might be able to cut more efficiently).

Okay, thankyou

I want to do the same but my other half just said “that’s fleece” I said “yes” he said “ I'm
Not putting wee fleece in my washing machine” so I said “I’ll hand wash first”.

Has anyone else had this conversation with their partners about guinea pig wee going in washing machine? Was also thinking perhaps they can be potty trained?

I don’t know about potty training but my lot pee and poo in their hay tray!

I made my own fleece liners- I’m just waiting on a horse bag so I can pop them in the laundry. In the meantime I’m just saving them up in a bin bag until I can wash them 😂

I told my husband what I was planning and he rolled his eyes a bit, but we have two small humans in the house, who make all sorts of gross mess, and I’m a nurse, so I reminded him a bit of guinea pig pee was nothing really! It’s no worse than washing a reusable Nappy.

We had cloth nappies with our youngest, so my husband has no delusions about the sanctity of our washing machine! The guinea pig beds are really quite tame...

Sorry to jump on the post but I am going to be making my new cage liners soon as well. I used towels last time but it was a faff to sew.

@Reenie how absorbant are the mattress protectors you use? How long can you get between changes? Also do you use one layer or 2? Never used a mattress protector in a guinea pig cage before.
Thanks

I just use one layer of fleece and one layer of protector. A lot of people put fleece on both sides which makes it reverseable. I spot clean every day and have trays where a lot of the wee goes, and I get a week, easily between changes. I have never had any wetness get through to the corex, but because the liners are white and wee goes brown when it dries, you can easily see where the most used areas are and pop down a pee pad, which also helps keeping the liners clean longer.. That's where I've got the noodle bath mats down.... Also IKEA lol
