Hi so I recently have seen a homemade treats thread and thought it would be good to start one on toys and boredom breakers. If anyone has any ideas and/or information please post some here. I'll love to try some of them and get ideas:)
 
Spot the guinea pig! This is Messy enjoying her favourite spot - sleeping in the fleece forest I installed under the coffee table. It's made from a piece of cardboard box with strips of fleece tied to it. Edited to add, this idea was adapted from someone else's original design. :)

This is a haybox made from an egg carton. I fill these with various different "treat" hays. The pigs love them.
 
Wow I love the fleese idea. Got to give it a try! I also make hay holders out of toilet roll tubes they love nibbling on them! I'll post soon explaining some toys I make.:D
 
Cardboard boxes are great! Cheap and effective :). My old piggie loves to chew them. Probably because it's not too hard on her jaw and teeth!
 
Ooo good idea. Just making sure, twine is safe for them right?

Yeah I think so- I just used normal string for mine and that was fine. Just make sure you tuck it away from them as much as possible otherwise they'll. it's through it and tear the whole thing down lol!
 
Yes haha bet they will. That's why I don't spend long making toys they get destroyed with in half an hour!
 
I love making little treat balls. Not an orginal idea but a very good one!

YOU NEED
A toilet roll
Fave treats/veg (or could be a hay/grass ball)

HOW TO MAKE IT

Cut the toilet roll into rings
Place one ring over another (if you look down on it it will look like a cross)
Keep adding rings to it
Carefully add the filling
Add the last rings

Your piggie has to work for there food!
 
I fill an egg box with veg and then sit back to watch their attempts to get at the treats inside - sometimes I help them out a little. Keeps them busy for quite a while.

I like the idea of putting a treat in the middle of a hay filled toilet roll @Flutterby . I will be stealing that one!

I might try the egg box. Mine are too used to the treat in the toilet roll now, they find it in 2 seconds flat *tut* :))
