Hey Guys,

I just wondered what everyone does with their piggies old used hay during winter?

Until now i have been putting any old used hay in my garden waste bin, but the garden waste collections stop over winter. So i'm at a loss as to what to do with the hay! (i get through about 4kg a fortnight and thats just from the litter trays!)

My husband has suggested putting it in with our normal waste but i get through so much i don't think I'd fit our household waste in!

Has anyone got any suggestions?

no idea as we've just had our bin collections changed and it's going to be a nightmare now. they won't take pet waste in the brown garden bins anymore (and we fill three for each collection!) and we also put it in the main bin which they are now only going to take every three weeks! we also use some of next doors bins aswell (with permission) so i've no idea what we're going to do now :(

last year or maybe the year before, i advertised it online incase anyone needed any compost for an allotment and luckily someone got in touch and came round and took loads of it. she was really happy :)) so maybe try that?

A trip to our local tip is part of our weekly routine nowadays. I don't mind as it's not far away

i double bag mine and put it in the black bin which soon fills it up... it is a pain but we can get to the tip if need be.. its surprising how much waste two little piggies make with the cat litter etc...

I'm going to bag mine and put it out with the green bin (green bin is normal waste), can't put ours in the gardening one.

We try to get as much as possible into the ordinary bin, it is a shame that they stop collecting the green bin, outs is well used with the pigs waste

Have you the room to make a small compost heap?
I beleve composting any organic materal reduces its bulk by at least 50%
You could then eather bag it and put the redued amounts in the recicaling bin
Or perhaps you could dispose of it in you,s or a friends garden borders,

If i remember corectly , composted herbivore poop do,s not smell
And if you dont need the compost, you could always ask you neabours
If they want it for there gardens!
Compost worth its weight in gold to gardiners, alotment growes :))
