My boy was bloated so i started massage, meloxicam, metoclopramid and simethicone. I have noticed 1h after i gave him his meds that he is disoriented, a room that he knew very well before, now he is reclutant to move. I have read that this is a side effect of the metoclopramid. Is it dangerous? Will it go away? Or should i give him some medicinal charcoal to absorb that is left of metoclopramid?

I use liquid metoclopramid of 1mg/5ml. Gave him 2.5 ml, that means 0.5mg and he has 1kg

I’m sorry to hear this.

It would be safest for you to call your vet if at all possible.
We cannot comment whether this is an expected side effect or whether he is having some kind of reaction to it, or whether he is behaving like this because he is in a lot of pain.

We do not recommend the use of simethicone. It gathers gas into one big bubble which is fine for human babies but for the very different gut of piggies, simethicone can actually make gas more painful.

We would also recommend that you switch to daily weight checks and step in with syringe feeding a recovery feed. It’s essential you maintain his weight with syringe feed while he is unwell.

I hope he is ok
