My guinea pig, Peanut, his eye was normal yesterday. Today, when I went to play with him, I noticed his eye went from a dark red to a grey colour. He seems fine, I have no idea whether he can see or not. I don't no what happend to him. I booked an appointment with the vet but if you might know what is happening please tell me.

Hi!

Good that you have booked an appointment already; the sooner your piggy is seen, the better - ideally on the same day or within 24 hours of you noticing. The sooner treatment sets in, the quicker and more straight forward the recovery generally (depending on the severity of an injury, of course).

It is difficult for us to tell and needs a hands-on examination with a special dye that shows up any potential eye injuries that are not necessarily visible to the naked eye under UV light.
The developing greyness could an ulceration from a infection that could be setting in. Otherwise it could be a strong conjunctivitis. However, these are only guesses.

Like the other person said it could definitely be an infection (maybe from a hay poke?) or because of the cloudy gray color it could be cataracts. But if your pig is young then I would say that is very unlikely. I’m glad you booked an appointment right away. Only a vet could really know what is going on!
