Dirty Piggy

I posted a few times a while back about one of my piggys chamomile who had a bladder infection, and I'm worried she may get one again. For the past few days her feet have been very dirty and I've been cleaning them off every night during cuddle time, today I wanted to get a closer look because her back feet have also been red and her vagina was also dirty! Putting her at risk yet again for bladder infection, I cleaned it off as best I could but I would love some advice. I change the fleece in their cage every day in the afternoon and do a thorough spot cleaning in the morning and night. And my other piggy clover has clean feet.. are the dirty feet a sign of something and how do I calm the redness ? Thanks a lot!

Some piggies do get muckier than others, the redness on the feet is probably from sitting in her own urine causing urine scalds on her possibly. Have a read of the page on Guinea Lynx Guinea Lynx :: Urine Scald to help with the redness

Is she long haired? If so, trim the hair around the bum. Hair holds urine and can be a nightmare with long piggies. The only way my coronet would stay dry was if I cut her hair every 3/4 weeks.

By dirty feet do u mean poo? Does she have soft stools?

You could try vet bed for sleeping areas as its more absorbent and keeps piggy dry.

If she has soft stools and urine leaking regularly I'd have her vet checked for a UTI.
