How do I stop them doing this? It's driving us spare! At the moment I have a pad with the fleece and the backing sewn together and chucked in the bottom of the pen. They have discovered that if they dig like mad they can pull the corner up and get under. And tip everything as they run about underneath it. They are making a heck of a mess and DH is threatening to fire up the BBQ. They obviously are just skidding about in their own wee too.

Waaaaaaah help!

:lol!:Aah, I've got a burrower, too. Oh, the fun they can have and the mess they can make.. I've abandoned fitted liners. Puppy pads with large fleece that hangs over the sides of the cage work for me. My grids sit inside the base. So it works fine, for me. But if your base sits inside the grids I have seen people use clips to hold the fleece in place over the edges.

However, if they are in the cage when I'm cleaning them out its like watching moles as they shin straight under the fleece and delight in running about underneath it. Only last night I was chasing them out!

I too have a burrower :)) I've been considering putting some Velcro along the bottom edges of the correx and then onto a liner, but idk if they (Bella!) will chew it.

I've put a bit of velcro on mine but I didn't have enough to put it all the way round so it is just slowing them down rather than stopping them. They have found the weak spot now mind you so no longer slowed much! I can't see how they would get to it to chew it if it is all the way around...

My Gladys is a burrower.. i have put a few extra fleece layers in so she never gets down to the correx.. fleece hidey is proving very popular too.. i think she just likes the feel of the fleece close to her..

OT but I do love the name Gladys for a pig...

Bulldog clips! I make sure the fleece is larger than the base, fold it over the sides and use bull dog clips to secure it, they can't pull them off at all :yahoo:

That's the word I was looking for - bulldog clips :)

Can I see a picture? I can't visualise that at all!

My husband thought I was mad earlier as I was ranting at the piggies after clearing up the latest mess. I had put some nuggets in the bowl but left the kilner jar of nuggets on the floor of the pen. They were standing looking hopefully at it. "HAH" I said "HAH! You think you are so clever with all of your digging and making a mess, but where are you now when you need opposable thumbs? HAH" I suspect we would have a similar exchange if I presented them with a bulldog clip... Well. I say exchange. I ranted, they mainly looked at me, bug eyed, like I might be about to eat them or something. Again.

No, thank you, if I hadn't been at yours that day I wouldn't have known about him, makes you think some things are meant to be eh?

@Tigermoth I put down newspaper, then some old towels then lay the fleece over and fold the excess over the sides and just pop the clips on the edge of the correx. I started doing because my lot are chewers :hb:
