Hi I’m here for advice for yet another ailment in only a few weeks. My Biscuit had made a wonderful recovery against the odds and has been in fine health. Tonight she is rubbing her head on the floor and looks a bit wobbly. I did think she had scratched her ear a couple of times yesterday and wondered if she could have an ear infection coming.
I’ve never had this before with any guinea so after some advice please until I see the vet tomorrow. She is on Metacam for some unknown masses and previous gut stasis, is 5 years old and maintaining her weight. Any help very much appreciated thank you so much.

Hi

Just keep her as comfy as possible overnight and until you can have her seen.

Here are our bridging care tips in case you need them (which I do not hope): Emergency and Crisis Care as well as Bridging Care until a Vet Appointment

All the best!
Thank you. I will assess her in the morning. I have been at work but my daughter text me to say she was worried about her. She’s just whipped a baby sweetcorn out my hand so eating fine! Will ring the vets at 830. Thank you.

All the best!
Ps the baby sitter who has owned guineas thought she might have been dragging her back leg. Does this sound more neurological or typical of ear infection?
She ran out to get food and ran back to her house so didn’t display any symptoms when I got home.

It is very difficult to say, to be honest; I can only guess as wildly as you - and it won't help you any. :(

Ok thank you. New symptoms to me so am keen to try and work it out but I will get her seen tomorrow.

I would wait and see what your vet says about it all but it won't help you to fixate on an issue only to be dead wrong. We see that quite often on here.

Try too keep as open a mind as possible and then take it from there. We are here to support you but we cannot diagnose sight unseen and - from experience - prefer not play wild games of speculation.
