Hey guys, was curious of how I could lay mine out when I make it tomorrow. I know theres so many ways you can make them other than just a rectangle 2×4 lol if anyone would like to share how they did theres and some pictures I'd love to see :)

With only 12 grids to make a 2x4, your choice is really only for it to be a rectangle. To make an L shaped cage, for example, your cage would need more grids.
We also don’t know how much space you have to work with

Ollie and Tallulah have their 4x2 space arranged as a 3x2 fleecy area, with a 1x2 hay space on the side, as the cage has to fit in a awkward shaped alcove- but as @Piggies&buns says, this needs extra grids, and you'd need to cut the correx so changing it back later would be tricky.

Yes I would have preferred a 3x3 for Ollie and Tallulah as it is the same number of grids, but my pesky chimney breast wall sticks out an inch too far to fit 3 grids width across the back!

This is my bigger cage, for 6 piggies, if you are feeling like using all 43 grids and are commited to giving up your dining room or spare bedroom, and spending about 8 hours a week on the cage cleans! Its a 5x2 area with two 3x2 areas joined on, plus a small loft... excuse the poops, tomorrow morning is cage cleans!

The other reason why a rectangle or L shaped works (and being two grids wide) is because you can reach across it much more easily, once you get into 3+ grids wide then you will have to step in to do maintenance. It’s not necessarily a problem at all, but stepping in and out while bringing in and out cleaning equipment etc can get tiresome!
Plus if you need a lid, then a two grid wide rectangle makes if a lot easier to manage!

Its not 100% but they love the space! :) its 7×2 they have been popcorning around the cage lol! I know they only need like 2×4 but I dont like seeing anything in small cages if I can help it :) now just need to make more liners lol cant beat 7×2 cage and a loft for $50! Thank you all for responding I got caught up in doing this was so excited to make it lol20200624_194558.webp

That’s fab! Definitely always give them as much space as you possibly can!

My boys love having an 8ft x 6ft shed to themselves and as much as I’d love to get another pair of boys and could easily split the shed space in half and each half would still be bigger than recommended sizes, I can’t face the fact that I’d be halving the size they’ve become accustomed to!

Do you have cats?

And I know they love the running room :)!

Honestly I was sat there for a long time puzzling over the C&C jigsaw. I had a full shed to go at and even though I got lots of ideas beforehand, making an actual start was harder than I thought.
In hindsight I should have probably drawn out the layout.
Once I'd started though it came together nicely and you learn as you go. Cable ties were a godsend especially for my ramp and fixing correx.
I have amended it a couple of times (and added to.it) which you'll only know when you find a section thats not easy to clean or needs opening up a bit. Thats the great thing about C&C though.
I have some frosted pieces too but be aware that pigs like to chew those (mine do on the top level by the ramp so will.need replacing soon). I have seen half C&C pieces before but not sure where to get those from.
Not sure if this helps but I've attached a few pics of my set up. Good luck!
