A few of you will have seen my post about the new baby piggie I got, cheese.
Well he is on his own atm, quarantine as he is new.
Anyway I don't think I thought things through properly before snatching him up from the last owner,(I rehomed him)
I have a lone piggie peanut who I seperated from his cage mate because peanut was bullying him,I thought I could introduce him to cheese and hopefully they would get along....is there a chance that he actually likes being on his own and could hurt the baby?
He seems very territorial about his cage.
If this happens and they don't get on then I will have to get another baby so cheese isn't on his own😳
He wheeks at night because he can hear gizmo and zoomie and I feel so bad for him😪
So then I would have 2 pairs and a lone peanut:(
Gizmo the bullied one I had to seperate from peanut has a new friend zoomie and they are getting along fine.
Was I silly getting cheese ? I mean I have no problem getting a friend for him,I have the space but it wasn't something I factored for when my heart said get him lol.
The lady I got zoomie from has some 6 week old boys so if worst happens I can go back to her🙂

It is possible as a baby he will fit in at bottom of the hierarchy follow All bonding protocols in our bonding guide and make sure the area you bond in is neutral and then If successful the cage they go into is neutral and clean form all smells

Hi!

Please follow the tips in our comprehensive step-by-step bonding guide: Bonding and Interaction: Illustrated social behaviours and bonding dynamics
It also contains a chapter on baby boar bonding.

It is good that you can take Zoomie back if the bonding is not coming off. Personal likes and character compatibility also come into play when baby boar dating; by far not every baby is accepted although the same boar can fall happily in love with another pup!

Hi yes I have had a good read and am going to attempt a bonding tomorrow.
Sorry I think you misunderstood my wording...zoomie is paired with gizmo but if peanut doesn't like cheese I can go and get a baby from the same lady I got zoomie from to pair with cheese🙂

Sorry, I do get a bit mixed up after jumping between lots of threads over the course of one, never mind several days.

Aw, keep us all updated, I have my fingers crossed for Cheese and Peanut x Hope it’s a love match 🥰
Well they have been together for 2 days nearly....I think peanut loves his little bro....
He sleeps next to him and cheese follows him everywhere, they even sleep in the same hidey together, peanut NEVER did that with gizmo.
Although alarmingly I did have to have a word with peanut because he kept lying on top of the pouch when cheese was inside trapping him,not sure what his motive was for that, thought I had a murderous piggie on my hands😳and he was trying to suffocate cheese😫
Not entirely sure yet about his intentions when laying next to the bed weither its protective or dominant....we shall see.
There has been no humping by either pig today and all seems harmonious so far...I'm actually surprised after the drama with gizmo.
They actually get on better than gizmo and zoomie lol!
I will post some pics of both pairs in the photo section soon🙂

Remove the pouch for the duration. 'Locking in' a piggy is typical dominance behaviour.

But glad that they have bonded and are happy together!
