Did you know geese are like guinea pigs?

Also to add, yes they were that close. They will react to how you react to them. It's been years since I was on that particular stretch of canal but I've never had a problem with them - people I've walked with have a problem with them and the geese have reacted accordingly. Also, there were no goslings involved, they can get ever so slightly cranky when they have goslings.

Also, I was there because I was 45 minutes early to an appt at my GP surgery. They told me 11am on the phone, then apparently they booked it for 11.30am instead and I never read the text message that confirmed it, more fool me. So I went to the shop across the road and bought a bottle of Coke, then went to the canal for a bit. It's right next to the surgery so it wasn't out of the way. I'd planned on walking the stretch and back but somebody rang me and I stopped to take the call (and apologise to the woman who was behind me) and then nobody else was about so I just...sat there for a bit. I'd've moved if someone was coming because there really isn't the space on the towpath to pass properly, but nobody ever did.

Love the geese @Lorcan and I hope your doctors appointment went ok! Its good you're getting out a bit, some fresh air and sunshine and a walk and comedy wildlife animals does us all good x

Oh don't get me wrong they were busy arguing with each other, chasing each other into the canal, off the canal, down the canal, up the towpath. You can learn a lot about geese and their interactions in 30 seconds if you're sitting in the right place lol.

And it was fine! I was due an injection and the nurse is the one who gives it, so I have to go in every 4-6 weeks. She told me today I looked much brighter than I normally did. I'm like yeah, that's because I slept instead of waking up at 8pm and pulling an all nighter to come in at 11am. That has happened, and it ain't fun lol.

Great photos. And love the comparison with guinea pigs - little opportunists when it comes to it they do consider humans= food......

It took me a bit to work out why a couple of them would be interested enough to come over every so often, but I roll my own cigarettes and my tips come in a plastic bag (that I also keep papers in). So when I used the bag to get out a paper or a tip, THAT'S when I suddenly got interesting. I'm guessing it's because people bring food for them usually in plastic bags and I'm sure they haven't had many visitors recently.

Thanks for the comments about the photos everyone! It didn't occur to me at first to take photos lol. Then I'm like waaaaait, this is what I used to do! And my phone has a decent camera (which I'm grateful for, and grateful for contracts which mean I don't have to pay horrendous amounts up front). I love the geese, though. I used to just sit on certain stretches of the canal and watch them. I watched them chase a kid in school uniform down the towpath once, which means I'm probably awful for snickering at it, but they really didn't appreciate him trying to scare them. Don't mess with the geese, kids.
