I will be taking part in this on Saturday and Sunday. Diabetes UK is a charity very dear to my heart, and I have also got a Just Giving page for people to make donations. http://www.justgiving.com/Debbie-Po...campaign=fundraisingpage-donation-alert-email

Some of you may have noticed that I wasn't about much during August and early September. This was because my daughter, Hannah, was in hospital very ill. She is type 1 diabetic and had collapsed at home and was on the floor for over 24 hours before she was found. She nearly died, and spent 6 days in intensive care, and was in hospital for three weeks.

It's been a very difficult time for my family, and we are just so relieved that Hannah has recovered well. I will be going to visit Hannah tomorrow. She lives in Leeds, so I don't get to see her very often. It's really made me realise just how precious family is, and how fragile life can be.

Have had a very successful weekend, and have also received £145 in donations via my 'just giving' page! Will know exact amount raised at the Tesco Store I was collecting at very soon, but it was in excess of £1000. I so hope some advances in the treatment, care and prevention of diabetes can be made. I am very conscious of the fact that my little grandson is at risk of developing this dreadful condition.

Well done,

It's largely due to people like you that we've made progress in diabetes research, you deserve tremendous respect and admiration.

I hope and pray that he doesn't develop the condition.

Reece.
